Lawyer, coach, leadership whisperer.

HI, I’M WHITTNEY.

I’m a former BigLaw lawyer who believes that law can be a career that sustains, not drains. To get there, lawyers need to be equipped with more than just great substantive legal skills. They need help developing the structure, habits of thought, communication skills, and accountability to be truly exceptional leaders for their teams and firms. That’s my role as a coach: to bring out the exceptional leader in every lawyer.

My coaching style is grounded in understanding, even for the most difficult dynamics. I ask tough questions, and help my clients find the answers for themselves. And because I’ve coached hundreds of lawyers at every stage of their careers, I know where my clients are coming from and I can help them relate to their colleagues’ mindsets and needs.

I take my role as a coach seriously. In 2018, I helped design and launch an industry-standard, ICF-accredited coach training program specifically for coaching lawyers—when it comes to coaching in law firms, I literally helped to write the manual.

Who I am beyond the fancy pieces of paper

La Jolla in San Diego
  • I’m a rare San Diego native.

  • Growing up so close to Los Angeles meant that, as a kid with a game-show loving mom, I appeared on To Tell the Truth, Card Sharks, and Wheel of Fortune – Teen Week.

  • My parents met in a Tuesday night bowling league, and I came into the world with a seemingly natural ability to throw strikes.  My parents hoped that I would become a professional bowler. To their dismay, I went to law school instead.

  • One of my favorite things about living in San Diego is its proximity to the amazing farm-to-table cuisine in the Valle de Guadalupe wine region. If there isn’t time for a long drive, there are wonderful restaurants just minutes across the border in Tijuana.

  • I’m a single mom by choice. In my late 30’s, after working hard to create a great career and life, I decided to become a mom on my own.

  • I’m proud to have earned a Master Certified Coach credential through the ICF. It’s the pinnacle coaching credential available in the coaching industry, and at last count, there were only around 1,500 others in the world.
